My Story

Hey there, Lovely!

 

I’m Anita Michelle. I'm so excited to share my love for sewing career clothing with you. I began sewing in 2014 to tap into my creative brain after using my analytical brain as a psychometrician (i.e., a statistician with a focus on educational assessment) during my 9 to 5. I began my sewing journey by making quilts. Over the years, I discovered that nothing is more joyous than the moment when you can see yards of fabric come to life after being cut into pieces and sewn back together. Sewing clothing allows for those moments of joy to happen more often, as it usually takes me less time to sew an article of clothing than a quilt.

After working with the instructors at Made Institute in Philadelphia, I established Anita Michelle, LLC, in 2022 to provide professional clothing that would allow for an easy transition from one activity to another throughout the day. Specifically, I wanted to design fashion for the bike ride to work in addition to the standing morning meeting. I wanted clothing that allowed one to take a heart-healthy walk during lunch. The fashion would also be appropriate to transition to the afternoon presentation upon return from the walk. I wanted to design garments for an evening at the theater or a local sporting event.

 

With the establishment of Anita Michelle, I am improving the transitions in the everyday lives of career women by providing classic, confident, quality, moisture-wicking clothing.
